Goal #6 on my twenty one list is to travel to a new place, make a new friend, and make a souvenir journal.

The new place was Texas, a state I've never visited before. When my best friend announced she would be attending college there, it was an excuse for me to travel somewhere new. Dallas is beautiful and a vast piece of land, but I guess that's partially due to the absence of hills that I see everywhere in Southern California. The week I visited Dallas, they joked that I brought the California weather with me. Reports said that it would be humid and extremely hot, but the entire week was sunny, and the perfect mix of "not too cold, but not too hot." Funny enough, on the way to the airport, there was hail, rain, and thunder. Our explanation for the surprising, difficult weather was that Texas was sad that Angel and Steph were leaving.
The new friends I made were Grace, Jorge and my best friend's extended family. They treated us with hospitality, kindness, and generosity. It's difficult to pause your life for a week and to spend that entire week driving two girls to the most tourist-y places. However, they did it was no hesitations and for that, I am very appreciative of all of them!
Pictures below are the souvenir journal I made for the trip. I found it easier to save the memorabilia and to put the journal together at the end of the trip, rather than doing it every single day. Hope you enjoy!

How I made my journal:
- Cut the hole-punched side of lined paper and then stitched the center after folding
- Clear taped the edges for every two pages so the pen wouldn't bleed through
- Supplies used: doughnut bags, envelopes, fancy tape, and my favorite pen

@ashley - I don't know if journaling is my thing yet, so I kind of wanted to finish it as fast as possible cause I didn't want it lying around anymore :). I finished everything in about 3 days!
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I think if someone had more passion for journaling, they would definitely put more time into it ;)
