i've been so excited to finally get this post together. it's taken awhile, but that's because i've had vbs this week to keep me company. today is our last day and praise God, everything is going smoothly!
back to new york, the food was an important aspect of our trip and sadly, there are so many more places i wish i could go too. the wait for some restaurants shocked me! i checked on opentable.com to possibly make reservations for a restaurant i really wanted to try... and it was booked till july!
even though i was only able to go to a few places, i am happy with the places i was able to go to. enjoy!
1. Katz Delicatessen - Almost every recommendation list I got told me I had to visit this place. When I went inside, this deli was so busy! However, the line moved fairly quickly. I didn't think I was a huge fan of pastrami, but their pastrami really is goood. The sandwiches though are priced fairly high ($15 a sandwich), but I think it's gotten to become such a foodie landmark of NY, it's worth the experience. The owner of the deli also came out to greet a few tables, and he was very nice!

2. Charlie Palmer's Metrazur - Located inside the Grand Central, you were able to eat while people watching. They had a delicious array of appetizers, I especially loved the tuna tartare. Apparently this restaurant will be closing down soon, so it's my first and last time I'll ever be eating there!

3. Serendipity 3 - Could this place be any popular??? We came around 2pm and there was a wait for 45 minutes (or longer). We decided not to wait so we had Patsy's (see below) instead. However, I came back around 9pm because I was told that the nighttime waits are much shorter... but the wait I was told was actually 1 hour!! But lucky us, we were able to be seated in 30 minutes. We ordered the frozen hot chocolate... and I really liked it! The flavor was perfect.

4. Patsy's - Not the pizza joint I initially wanted to try in New York, but it wasn't bad at all.

5. Chicken & Rice on 53rd & 6th - We came here TWICE during our trip. This too, was a popular place that many friends told me about. They also told me that you must put lots of white sauce on your plate. You can pick from chicken or lamb and beware, the hot sauce is REALLY HOT.

6. Baked by Melissa - A mini cupcake store that sold each cupcake for $1. To me, it was a bit overpriced because the cupcake was TINY. But the size left you wanting more, so I guess it's genius on their part.

7. White Castle - This wasn't in NY but rather in NJ on our way to DC. My mom grew up loving this fast food store, so I was excited to eat what she loved so much as a child. I have tried the frozen White Castle burgers sold at the market, but it wasn't nearly as a good as the real thing. Slides and sweet potato fries? Yum.

Wow, everything looks so good! The few times I've been to NYC, I've never been to any of these places. There is just waaaay too much to see and do there!

Wow. I guess we were lucky when visiting Serendipity 3 because we were seated right away. It might have been really late though when we got there, because there was only like one other table still eating...
