The first recipe I ever learned involved puff pastry. It was a puff pastry + vanilla pudding dessert that my Grandma taught me in the kitchen when I was a little girl. I think she was deciding between teaching me how to make fried rice and this pastry. She chose the latter probably because it was much easier to do.
Fast forward to today, I'm teaching myself new recipes to do with this fancy, yet simple dough. I made a breakfast tart for some girlfriends one day and with the leftover dough, I decide to put together three appetizers with other leftovers.
I carved a 1/2 inch border around the edge and pricked the center with a fork. Bake this on 400F for about 12-15 minutes. I also briefly brushed the dough with olive oil.

After the 15 minutes, I added the ingredients (fish and meat were already pre-cooked). The cheese option had havarti cheese, tomatoes and chives. The second one had salmon fish, chives, and a generous drizzle of lemon juice. The last one had short ribs and onions.

It was kind of an inside out version of a savory pie, which are my fav, so they tasted delicious. Puff pastry is so fun to work with and I can't wait to try some new recipes!
